Shane Cromwell, a Project Coordinator at Seven Generations Architecture + Engineering, is leaving our Kalamazoo headquarters for Tulsa, Oklahoma. Shane is invested in our company’s mission, and he enjoys working on culturally responsive design projects. He and his fiancé Emily also have a love for travel and new adventures. For them, the perfect solution was relocating to Tulsa. The move will allow Shane to take full advantage of programs like Tulsa Remote while he continues to work for 7GAE, earn his graduate degree, and serve as a connection between 7GAE and Blue Star, two tribally-owned design companies within the Bodwé Professional Services Group.

Blue Star Integrative Studio is an Indigenous American interdisciplinary design practice and a critical component of the Bodwé family. Blue Star focuses on quality design and environmental excellence in projects that serve communities of culture. Shane spent three months at Blue Star’s offices in Tulsa earlier this year when the firm first joined Bodwé. That experience allowed him to learn more about their ethos for quality design and environmental excellence in projects that serve communities of culture. Shane enjoyed working at the Blue Star offices so much that when the opportunity arose for him to live in Tulsa permanently while still working for 7GAE, he jumped at the chance. Shane will serve as a critical connector between Blue Star and Seven Generations A+E, bringing both companies closer together under the Bodwé umbrella.

Shane Cromwell and Emily 7GAEAn added benefit to Shane’s move to Tulsa is eligibility for Tulsa Remote. Through this program, participants who move to Tulsa and work remotely, like Shane, are eligible for a $10,000 grant. Shane will utilize the grant as he improves a home he and Emily purchased in Tulsa. Participants can also take advantage of perks like free access to a coworking space, events, and a vibrant community of remote workers from across the country.

When Shane first arrived at 7GAE as an architectural associate, our firm employed just 12 people. As the company has grown, so has Shane’s commitment to furthering his education and developing his skills. Today, Shane is two years into his Master of Architecture Degree through Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, Michigan. A portion of his tuition is paid annually through the tuition reimbursement program that Seven Generations offers its employees. Says Shane, “Very few employers pay for tuition anymore. This is a huge deal and an awesome program from 7GAE. I encourage other employees to take advantage of it.” Shane will continue his degree from Tulsa and looks forward to graduation in 2022.

While our Kalamazoo team will miss Shane, we wish him all the best as he represents 7GAE from Tulsa!
