Seven Generations Architecture and Engineering was solicited to provide architectural and engineering services for a new police substation for the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi. The purpose for the facility is to provide a ‘home base’ for Law enforcement services that will primarily serve needs of the new Casino build in South Bend, Indiana. The new facility will provide ‘touchdown’ space for law enforcement staff as well as administrative staff support space. While the facility is not equipped with holding facilities, it does include space for interview rooms and evidence storage.
In addition, the facility includes a two car garage for patrol vehicles along with a small armory, a conference room. The building design is a simple wood framed structure with a double loaded corridor floor plan layout. The linear form allows for an efficient and repetitive structural system while the gentle slope of the standing metal roof creates a subtle design element.
