Seven Generations Architecture & Engineering (7GAE), the premier tribally owned, 8(a) and HUBZone certified architecture and engineering company, is pleased to announce the addition of three talented summer interns to the firm’s staff for 2018. Following a competitive selection process of candidates, all three started their internships at 7GAE in early June and will continue throughout the summer.
Amanda Boelman has completed her sophomore year at Western Michigan University where she is earning her marketing degree within the Haworth College of Business and Lee Honors College. As the business development intern at 7GAE, Amanda is helping the firm target and sign new clients. As a Tribal Citizen, she is keen to combine her classroom learning with real-world experiences to round out her education.
“The Pokagon Band has a wonderful program called Pathways, which builds customized career paths for all Tribal Citizens,” says Amanda. “After registering online, I worked with a counselor who helped to match me with the right opportunity here at 7GAE and I could not be happier.”
Amanda, who has been on the Dean’s List every semester she has been in college, expects to graduate in spring 2020.
Maggie Cochrane is a Masters of Architecture candidate at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, class of 2020. At 7GAE, Maggie’s responsibilities include digital drafting and modelling, as well as assisting with proposal writing for a key healthcare summit presentation.
“With my internship at 7GAE, I am able to combine my passion for Native American advocacy with my architectural education,” says Maggie. “It is difficult to find architecture firms that are devoted to social justice and I am very happy to be here doing something I love while serving communities.”
Prior to joining the Seven Generations A+E team, Maggie was a program supervisor for Re-Member in Pine Ridge, S.D., where she led volunteers on construction sites and in critical home repair operations for the Ogala Lakota Nation.
Leslie Infanger is also a Masters of Architecture candidate at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She is expected to earn her degree in 2019. At 7GAE, Leslie has been putting her design skills to good use helping the firm to produce beautiful renderings and models for projects. She is also integral in gathering data and preparing presentations.
“This is exactly the kind of experience I was hoping to gain when I accepted 7GAE’s offer to join the team,” says Leslie. “Working here allows me to apply what I have learned in the classroom with the practical side of the A+E world.”
