Pokagon Band Bent Tree Market

Pokagon Band Bent Tree Market

The new 4,000 SF convenience store and gas station serves guests of the casino, Tribal citizens and the general public. The construction is wood frame with exterior stone veneer, horizontal siding and vertical metal panel accent, in a palette to match the casino. The Pokagon Band, who owns the property, broke ground for construction on June 27, 2013, partnering with Seven Generations a+e, Mercer Construction and J&H Oil to complete the project in December 2013.

Seven Generations managed and coordinated all design disciplines, in addition to coordinating with the Tribal Council, its Owner Representative, and the General Contractor. Seven Generations provided full Construction Administration services, including shop drawing and submittal reviews, Requests for Information (RFIs), facilitation of owner / architect / contractor meetings, and scheduled site visits.

Seven Generations, through its civil engineering group, worked closely with the owner during the programming phase to prepare the comprehensive Environmental Impact Statement that was submitted to the Tribal Department of Natural Resources (DNR). The team responded to several environmental concerns identified by the DNR associated with the underground fuel tanks and the storm water run-off from the site.

Seven Generations designed a new road to connect the Bent Tree Market and Gas Station with the casino. Site utility services (water, sewer and electric) are provided from the casino’s system, which is approximately 1200 feet from the site. Seven Generations worked closely with the General Contractor and the casino building maintenance personnel to develop a utility re-route process that assured zero shut down of utility services to the casino with its 24-hour operation.
