Mille Lacs Band District 1 Health Clinic

Mille Lacs Band District 1 Health Clinic

The Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe commissioned Seven Generations Architecture and Engineering to provide full design services for a new Health Clinic for the District 1 Community. The 70,000 s.f. facility was designed to provide General Practice Health Clinic Services, Dental Operatory, Pharmacy, Imaging / Radiology, Lab, Physical Therapy, Behavioral Health, Public Health and Family Services. The Facility was designed as a ‘one stop shop’ for members of the Mille Lacs Band Community. The Clinic was designed to accommodate Urgent Care needs by allowing a portion of the clinic to remain open ‘after hours’ in the case of low acuity urgent care needs.

The building is situated on a large open prairie and wraps around existing wetland area that acts as a focal point for the general waiting areas for the clinic and community support service zones of the building. The building is divided into two ‘wings’ to separate Clinic functions from Community Support Services. The Clinical wing accommodates general health clinic functions on the first floor and specialty services directly above on the second floor (i.e. Imaging, Lab and Dental services). The wing opposite accommodates all community support services including offices, collaborative work areas, conference rooms, a pharmacy on the first floor and a Physical therapy gym on the second floor.
