The Quality of Life Award exemplifies ASCE’s theme, “Civil Engineers Make the Difference - They Build the Quality of Life.” Emphasis of the project must be on small community or private projects, while the project should have positive effects on human lives without adversely affecting the surrounding environment.

The new $12 million, 38,425 square foot Health and Wellness Center provides Tribal Citizens and families a state of the art medical and physical rehabilitation facility. The Center features a medical clinic, dental suite, traditional healing area, behavioral health services, a physical-therapy pool, training room, and a fitness room. Design elements include plantings of species indigenous to the site, materials and colors reflecting the heritage and culture of the Pokagon Band, a traditional eastward facing entrance and a signature rotunda.
